Archaeology: The Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI)

efore any
archaeological investigation can be undertaken it's important that a
careful plan is drawn up to inform the work and enable agreement to be
reached with the contractor as to an appropriate way of working
together. This document called a Written Scheme of Archaeological
Investigation (WSI for short) is the starting point for virtually all
modern archaeological projects. A copy also goes to the Diocesan
archaeology adviser so he can give it the once over then keep an eye on
the project once things have got started.
