Archaeology: The Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI)

Before any archaeological investigation can be undertaken it's important that a careful plan is drawn up to inform the work and enable agreement to be reached with the contractor as to an appropriate way of working together. This document called a Written Scheme of Archaeological Investigation (WSI for short) is the starting point for virtually all modern archaeological projects. A copy also goes to the Diocesan archaeology adviser so he can give it the once over then keep an eye on the project once things have got started.
